Oxford Brookes University has three campuses, all of which are part of a long-term redevelopment plan “Space to Think”, designed to build inspirational and thought provoking spaces for its students. The challenge has been architecturally successful, blending surrounding listed churches and colleges with the new, light enhancing buildings.
The first phase of the extension was the Abercrombie building at the Headington campus, where our work began in March 2012, painting the exposed concrete soffits. This was a particularly early stage of the project and was applied as the structure was constructed to allow M&E installations.
The main phase of the project for us was the internal finishings to walls, staircases, ceilings, floors and trims to the Pooled Teaching areas and Library. A variety of textures and colours were specified to support the design brief.
The third and final phase of the Headington campus redevelopment begins at the Collonade building in Spring 2014.
